Learning outcomes

By the end of the course students should be able to:
- function effectively and flexibly in business meetings
- write reports and letters with a clear structure and aim, utilizing appropriate style and vocabulary
- maintain credibility, create positive impressions and deliver information as part of a team presentation

ENe1b (Lindholm): The distance learning alternative to EN1b has the same objectives as the regular course.

The course focuses on improving and extending a wide range of communication skills in business and teamwork contexts. The task-based learning methods are designed to improve language skills, as well as key metaskills such as preparation, teamwork and responsibility.
The key concepts are flexibility and credibility. In the tasks we consider strategies to minimize risk and increase the chance for success, in contexts varying from job applications to press conferences. Key topic areas are recruiting, corporate social responsibility and business meetings.

ENe1b: The content is the same as in the course EN1b.

ENe1b: Independent work and group work 81 h.
In this course there are no scheduled classes. Instead, students practice theme areas and complete projects individually and in groups in order to qualify for key graded tasks.
Once the course starts, it is strongly recommended that you attend the info session, the date and place of which will be announced later.

Students wanting to take the distance class must commit to check their email and the moodle area regularly and be prepared to arrange semi-regular meetings with their assigned group in order to pass through the projects. Furthermore, independent work requires a strong work ethic, initiative and a willingness to be flexible with your schedule. Despite not meeting in class, this course includes a high degree of interaction, both with the teacher and your fellow students.
