Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the students should
- be familiar with the Anglo-American style of academic writing understanding the main features of an academic text
- have knowledge of the different types of academic texts and research papers - argumentative - analytical - defining - interpretive and have produced specific examples
- be able to structure a text on the micro -intermediate and macro levels and understand how cohesion and coherence is produced
- have developed their argumentation, summarising and critical evaluation skills
- have practiced writing the draft of a long academic text, and also revised and proof read the text for submission


The course covers the writing process and all the key writing skills related to the Anglo-American style of thesis writing.
Practical guidance is given on style, organization, and grammatical competence
This course is intended for students writing their Master's thesis.
