BTEK3107 Biotechnical applications of nucleic acids 4 ECTS

B.Sc. level knowledge in biochemistry or biotechnology is necessary.

Learning outcomes

As a result of passing the course student has knowledge of major methodological breakthroughs and the latest scientific developments in the biotechnical applications of nucleic acids. Student is familiar with efficient reading of scientific articles and has improved skills and obtained practice in giving technical oral presentations.

Contents

The course covers nucleic acid sequencing, oligonucleotide and gene synthesis, backbone modifications, nucleic acid amplification methods, functional oligonucleotides and DNA nanostructures and advanced methods for molecular diagnostics.

Course is primarily intended to students in molecular biotechnology and diagnostics and biotechnology degree programmes. Places are available to other students only in case the total number of students in the course does not exceed 20.
