If you wish to make a thesis in astronomy, please contact Seppo Mattila and/or Juri Poutanen. You will be offered possible topics for your thesis and will be nominated a supervisor.

Learning outcomes

The thesis project gives the student an opportunity to become involved in astrophysics research within one of the fields studied at the department of physics and astronomy or at Finnish Centre for Astronomy with ESO. The student acquaints his/herself with usage of scientific literature and will gain knowledge on the specific field of research related to the thesis. The student is trained in observational and/or theoretical research skills, good and ethically right scientific practices and to present clearly and exactly his/her results in the context of the relevant scientific questions in astrophysics.

Contents

Thesis work is based on student's own research and relevant scientific literature.
