Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student will have an overall view of space as operation environment and of the challenges that this environment sets for technology used in space. The student will be familiar with various elements of space mission architecture. The student is able to calculate orbit parameters and design simple orbit
manoeuvres. The student will have basic understanding of the structure and subsystems of a spacecraft. The student will understand the implications that the space environment sets for the design of spacecraft and space instrumentation.


Space environment. Spacecraft orbits and manoeuvres. Space system
engineering. Purpose and function of various spacecraft subsystems.
Rockets and launch vehicles. Spacecraft integration and testing. Mission
operations and communications networks.
