Learning outcomes

The LabVIEW programming platform is used in many laboratories to control experiments and also to analyze measurement results. LabVIEW applies a graphical-type language which distinguishes it from other computer languages like Fortran or C.

The aim of this course is to learn how to write LabVIEW programs. This includes debugging methods. We will also create real applications using a data acquisition board. Examples are a circuit to measure current-voltage characteristics of electrical elements or a PID controller to set the temperature.


LabVIEW programming language and its data flow.
Understanding front panels, block diagrams, connectors/items, built-in LabVIEW functions, library VIs, sub VIs, Structures, Arrays and Clusters, Charts and Graphs.
Debugging techniques.
Data handling and manipulation.
Applications using a data acquisition board (DAQ).
