General description

This is an advanced course of Legal English that builds on the skills and competences acquired during the previous English courses (Modules 1 and 2). Targeted level of language proficiency: C1.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the students should be able to
- communicate fluently and accurately (using appropriate legal terminology) in English in a variety of
situations (including problem-solving, discussions and debates) on a variety of topics in the field of law;
- communicate effectively in cross-cultural contexts;
- analyse academic texts and different types of legal documents, and apply the information to formulate
their own argument;
- plan and write a short text in English (e.g., a letter of advice, memo) on a topic from the field of law, using
appropriate format, structure, style and professional language;
- employ learning strategies practiced in the course to develop their own English language skills in the
future.

4. language practice and exercises in all four skill areas: listening, reading, writing and oral production

All the exams take 4 hours.

1. Students cannot take more than one module at the same time.
2. The English courses must be taken in sequential order.
3. No extra written assignments can compensate for the 75% attendance rule.
4. Students are required to register for one group and remain in that group.
5. Registration for the course in Nettiopsu.
