Learning outcomes

This course acquiants the students with current urban development from the perspectives of regeneration projects, cultural revitalization and place marketing. The aim is to learn to understand urban processes and power issues related to inter-urban competition and place marketing and branding.


The course themes cover place marketing as a contemporary urban phenomenon, as well as postindustrial waterfront develpoments, high-rise buildings, pedestrianized zones, mega events and the digitalization of public spaces as specific types of manifestations of urban regeneration.

Teaching methods

Lectures, article readings, group work (alternatively: writing a book review).
