Learning outcomes

Understand reconfigurable system architectures and underlying technologies including FPGA, is able to design and implement reconfigurable electronic systems, understand both dynamic and static reconfiguration, have knowledge on state-of-the-art FPGA based embedded processors

Contents

Reconfigurable computing structures change the classical view of computer systems: fixed HW, reconfigurable SW. Computers built from reconfigurable structures do not rely on a fixed hardware, but adapt their architecture to the application under execution. Making hardware soft leads to a paradigm shift in computing and is expected to radically change the way we construct and use computing systems. In embedded systems, reconfigurable technology accelerates system functions, reduces system cost and power consumption, and enables hardware-on-demand functionality.
