General description

The course provides a wide biological perspective to the origins of Homo sapiens, the basic biological characteristics of the species and its ancestors, and to taxonomic and ecological approaches to the study of human evolution.

Learning outcomes

After the course the participants will have a basic understanding of the current hypotheses about human evolution and the main topics of discussion and controversy.


Humans as great apes, human ancestors, characteristics of humans as a biological species, historical and current controversies on human evolution, evolutionary psychology.
