Learning outcomes

The aim is to study the following measurement techniques and the function of equipments as well as their applications in Materials Science: ESCA (Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis), EXAFS (Extended X-Ray Absorption Fine Structure), LEED (Low Energy Electron Diffraction), EELS (Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy), STM (Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy), Sputtering.

Contents

During the Lecture Course one will use some of these methods in the Research of Materials Science (concentration analysis and depth profiling). ESCA measurements and depth profiling using sputtering will be performed and finally, the results will be analyzed.
