Learning outcomes

The purpose of the course is to provide the student an overview of the physical background of biological phenomena from molecular and cellular level upp to structural and dynamical properties of biological species. The relevant theoretical methods are presented together with the topics.


Physical properties of atoms and molecules. Physical properties of small and large molecules in biology. Cell membranes and cellular machines. Light harvesting systems. Propagation of neural impulses. Principles of sensory processes and their relation to environment and biological materials. Support structures and motion of biological bodies.
