Learning outcomes

During the orientation period, the student is introduced to research practices. Orientation period is ment for doctoral candidates who are in the beginning of their studies, those interested in doctoral studies and those changing research direction.

Contents

The orientation period consists of lectures orienting the students towards information retrieval, workshop in academic writing, and group work. Orientation lectures are organised twice a year. During the lectures ia. the following topics are covered: information retrieval, using library data bases, publishing articles, project management and financing one's research. The workshop in academic writing is organised once a year. During the workshop the doctoral candidates will be introduced tools for approaching writing as a process, writing regularly, managing writing time, setting manageable writing goals, and overcoming psychological barriers to writing.
