Learning outcomes

The course provides students with experience-based knowledge of their own enterprising behavior, self-awareness of related strengths and weaknesses. It also seeks to support the development of skills and attitudes required for recognizing and acting upon opportunities to create new values, be it commercial, social or cultural values. Upon completion of the course, students:
1) understand what an entrepreneurial opportunity is and how it differs from an idea;
2) are familiar with the opportunity identification or creation process for new value creation;
3) are able to evaluate feasibility of entrepreneurial opportunities;
4) know how to develop these opportunities and start acting upon them;
5) develop deeper understanding of the importance and applicability of enterprising behavior to own life in different contexts (e.g. work, family, leisure).

The course includes interactive lectures, individual and team assignments on the identification of entrepreneurial opportunities and value creation. It is divided into two parts. The first part consists of five two-hour lecture-type sessions and a series of short written pre-assignments. The second part is a one-day long assignment that is an experiential team challenge to be completed, and a subsequent seminar where students present their work. Based on the latter, students also submit an individual reflection report.
All the formal course materials (e.g. Power Point slides, case studies) will be available on Moodle.
