General description

Advanced level lecture course suitable for biology, biochemistry, and medical students. Recommended also for PhD students as well as researchers interested in genetic engineering of organisms.

Learning outcomes

Deep understanding of various forms of recombination reactions and their uses for research and applied purposes.


Lectures include: Essential features of the structures of nucleic acids, protein-DNA complexes as mediators of recombination reactions, DNA topology, homologous recombination, site-specific recombination, DNA transposition and integration reactions, telomerase, advanced genome engineering using recombination reactions, gene therapy requirements and problems, gene editing.
