Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students have gained a comprehensive knowledge of the background, the development and the current state of the economic relations between the EU and Russia. The course teaches students how to analyse independently the impact of the EU-Russia relations on the every-day business between the companies based in the EU and Russia.


The course provides students with a comprehensive picture of the EU-Russia economic relations. The course gives a special emphasis on mutual trade, energy dialogue in particular, investment flows, and tourism. Future scenarios for the EU-Russia relations are discussed. High-level visiting experts from the EU institutions and Russia lecture about the “hot potatoes” of the EU-Russia relations. In addition to lectures, the course contains an analytical course work on a given topic.

Evaluation and evaluation criteria

Numeric 0-5.
The final grade of the course is based on the exam (40%), the course work (40%), and active participation in the lectures (20%). It is obligatory to attend at least 50% of the lectures, including the final lecture, when students present the course works.
