Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: B2 - C1

General description

Academic writing course designed for UTUGS researchers. In this course researchers deepen their knowledge of academic writing conventions, particularly the skills needed to write in English for international journals, including aspects of structure, cohesion and flow, and academic grammar. During the course, a series of workshops and writing clinics are offered, from which researchers build an individual course plan by attending those most relevant to the kind of support they need, and the stage they are at in their writing process. Researchers use their own texts as the basis of analysis throughout the course and are encouraged to investigate language choices that are typical of their academic discipline. Much of the course is internet-based, with a flexible schedule of workshops and feedback sessions following compulsory core skills lectures.
