Learning outcomes

The course objective is to familiarise students with the most common language technology applications and their potentials in digital humanities, applying multilingual resources and tools.

Contents

The topics include morphological and syntactic analysers as well as their use in different language resources and linguistics, the automatic detection of semantic information behind words and texts, opinion mining, and the principles of machine translation and post-editing. In addition, the course presents the use of text classification and clustering in the analysis of big data and different methods for characterising big datasets with, e.g., keystructure analysis. The course is meant for students with no prior knowledge on language technology and does not include any programming.
