Learning outcomes

The student is able to search scientific literature, critically evaluate its content, and apply the search results in scientific research. The student can report and critically discuss the outcomes of a scientific research project. The student has written presentation and argumentation skills to engage in a constructive dialogue with related fields. The student can appreciate the possibilities and limitations of bioinformatics methods in the application domain and in the society at large.

Contents

The Master's thesis (pro gradu) includes both the outcomes of the thesis research project written and the review of the related literature in the form of a scientific publication. The recommended length of the thesis is 60-80 pages. Before the thesis can be evaluated the student must pass a maturity examination related to a topic of the thesis.

Evaluation and evaluation criteria

Approbatur-laudatur.
The thesis is evaluated by the supervisor and a second examiner. The decision of acceptance or rejection is made by the head of the department. A special grading scale is used: approbatur, lubenter approbatur, non sine laude approbatur, cum laude approbatur, magna cum laude approbatur, eximia cum laude approbatur or laudatur.
