Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student knows the hydrodynamic and magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations and the basis of their application. The student will be familiar with the different approximations (perfect fluids; incompressible fluids; ideal MHD fluids) and their range of validity. The student is familiar with the most important theorems of fluid behavior and knows their ramifications for the fluid behavior. The student knows the basic wave modes of (magnetized) fluids and understands the concept of stability of the configuration. The student will be able to solve simple practical problems in fluid mechanics and MHD and knows about numerical methods to solve the equations.
