Learning outcomes

Students will learn about the commonalities and particularities of the national economies in the BSR, economic history and structural changes of the region, and emerging macro-regional economic trends.

General description

The mix of mutually complementing and synergetic national economies together with geographical closeness and political proximity of its states BSR has been able to enjoy sustainable economic growth, welfare, innovation and employment. The course will analyze the reasons for this successfulness by studying the various national, regional and EU-level fiscal, monetary, trade and industrial policies in the BSR. It will also highlight the efforts of fostering economic growth and attracting foreign investment in the region through increased harmonization of national norms, policies and infrastructures. Course analyzes the specific features of national economic environments, labor markets and welfare systems of the BSR states.

Mode of assessment:

  1. A group presentation of topics suggested
  2. Individual analysis of an economic text.
