Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to provide a profound basis and applications on the high throughput screening techniques in drug discovery and luminescence in liquid and solid state (bio)chemical analysis. Students acquire knowledge in modern drug discovery and luminescence techniques to be applied for (bio)chemical research and practical (bio)chemical analysis.

General description

Modern high throughput screening techniques in drug discovery are presented followed by a lab work for a typical HTS assay setup (also part of the Principles of Drug Discovery and Development course). Lectures on the luminescence comprise rationales on the luminescence in liquid and solid state. Solid state luminescence lab work includes the characterization of a persistent luminescence powder material using typical solid state methods.
