General description

To complete the course:

1. Attend all 4 core skills lectures at the beginning of the course

2. Choose 5 sessions to attend from a selection of workshop and/or drop-in sessions which are held weekly throughout the term. These contact sessions can be either workshop or drop-in sessions, or a mixture of the two. It is ok to have a gap of several weeks in between sessions, or to attend more than one session a week, as long as you attend 5 sessions (of 2 hours) in total.

This course requires that you commit to actively writing throughout the term.

Autumn 2017

Core Skills Lectures = 4 x 2 hours (8 hours total)

Fri 8-September-2017 and Fri 15-September-2017, at 10.15-11.45, in Room 251B, Agora.


Wed 20-September-2017 - Wed 27-September-2017, at 08.30-10.00, in Room 251B, Agora.

Workshop and/or Drop-in Sessions = 5 x 2 hours (select 10 hours total)

The workshop and drop-in sessions will be held throughout the term (25-October-2017 - 13-December-2017) on Wednesdays from 12.15-13.45 and on Fridays from 10.15-11.45 in Room 251B, Agora. Note that during Week 49, the course will be on Tuesday, December 5 from 12.15-13.45 rather than on Wednesday, December 6. Ineach week we aim to offer at least one of each type of session. More information will be given during the Lectures.

Independent online and group work = 34 hours

Materials and guidance provided by the teachers through Moodle. Group work organized independently.

Number of students admitted to the course: 45.
Students will be selected by the order of enrolment. Only registered UTUGS students will be accepted.
