Learning outcomes

The students will learn to critically use primary research literature, make own field documentation and build up a glacial sequence stratigraphic framework.

General description

Preparation for the field course by reading Evans and Benn (2004): A practical guide to the study of glacial sediments textbook. A one-week field course with visits to key geological sections. Exercises in field documentation. Editing the field documentation into a full sequence stratigraphic presentation after the course. This framework is then presented in a closing seminar.

Evaluation criteria

based on written exam of the study materials

Study materials

D.J.A. Evans, D.I. Benn (2004): A Practical Guide to the Study of Glacial Sediments and 6 research papers on Fennoscandian Quaternary history and glacial sequence stratigraphy. The field documentation data used to build up the glacial sequence stratigraphic framework.
