DEGREES AT THE FACULTY OF MEDICINE
ACADEMIC YEARS 2016-2017 AND 2017-2018

In the Faculty of Medicine it is possible to study for the following graduate degrees:

  • Licentiate of Medicine (Lic.Med.) / in Finnish only
  • Licentiate of Odontology (Lic.Odont.) / in Finnish only
  • Master of Health Sciences (M.Sc.) in Nursing Science/ in Finnish only
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Master's Degree Programme in Biomedical Imaging
  • Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Master's Degree Programme in Biomedical Imaging
  • Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Master's Degree Programme in Drug Discovery and Development

The Bachelor’s degree is a first cycle university degree. The Licentiate of Medicine and the Licentiate of Odontology degrees and the Master’s degree are second cycle university degrees.

In the Faculty of Medicine it is possible to study for the following postgraduate degrees:

  • Doctor of Odontology (D.Odont., Ph.D.)
  • Doctor of Medical Science (M.D., Ph.D.)
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
  • Doctor of Health Sciences (Ph.D., Health Sciences) / Licentiate of Health Sciences (Lic. Sc., Health Sciences)

Doctoral degrees and the Licentiate of Health Sciences degree are academic postgraduate degrees. They can be pursued after a second cycle university degree. The Doctoral degrees are conducted in Doctoral Programmes. There are five Doctoral Programmes in the Faculty of Medicine:

  • Doctoral Programme in Nursing Science (DPNurs)
  • Doctoral Programme of Clinical Investigation (CLIDP)
  • Drug Research Doctoral Programme (DRDP)
  • Finnish Doctoral Program in Oral Sciences FINDOS-Turku
  • Turku Doctoral Programme of Molecular Medicine (TuDMM)
